Watch what happens when Ram finds out and the impact this has on his relationship with Raja. While Ram Chandra is busy arranging his daughter's marriage with Rajesh Gupta, the only son of a multi-millionaire and educationist, he is quite unaware that the object of Raja's affections is none other than Roja, his very own daughter. How this love affair is dealt with is the rest of the movie. Divya (Tabu) makes an entry and both fall in love with her without realising that both are in love with the same girl. He also helps Raja sort out his personal problems, including his romance with a young woman he met at the Cyber Café and then at Bandra Railway Station. Arun (Abbas) and Karthik (Vineeth), are two students from rival colleges.

One such student he accommodates is a new arrival from Allahabad, Raja, and he arranges his admission in Ram Chandra College for Business Management along with full board and shelter. Ram leaves home and subsequently works hard, studies, becomes rich and constructs several colleges to accommodate needy students. He dream is to attend school, which he does so, after his sister is loaned out to a beggar to collect alms, but she is unable to withstand hunger for long and passes away. The film completed 100 days in theatres on and ran for nearly 300 days in 120 theatres across India, setting new box office records for a Tamil film till date.Ram Chandra is a Tamilian who lives in a shanty hut in Bombay's Dharavi, along with his mom and a younger sister. There are times when the narration seems a bit slow and the music might not be very much in sync with that moment but overall Kadhal Desam is an admirable film with a good story and a great climax which will keep you glued to the screen. The screenplay is full of emotions and touches one's heart. The director P Vasu has created excellent chemistry between the lead characters. The songs are superb with classy lyrics and good background score which compliments each situation in the film perfectly. Kadhal Desam also has a brilliant music score by A R Rahman which adds to the flavor of the film.

But he has taken a straight, well focused script and made a good movie out of it. We can see that P Vasu's trademark style is present throughout the movie though sadly there is nothing new in this movie. The director relies on his story and its screenplay to hit the bull's eye as the film touches two very strong emotions - love and jealousy. This time he has chosen a very good storyline that will appeal to people of all ages. P Vasu who gave us unforgettable hits like Kushi, Kasi, Nattamai, Uyirodu Uyarndha Oka Roju etc among others returns to romance once again with Kadhal Desam just like his previous hit Araivu. Vasu did a wonderful job in making this film and it shows. Kadhal Desam is a romantic film with a great story and a great climax which will keep you glued to the screen.
The rest of the story is all about how both Renuka and Sameer accepted each other's love and started a new life together. On the other hand, Shalini gets to know about her illness which made her unable to be a mother and hence she breaks the marriage engagement because of it hoping that Sameer will marry Renuka instead who was always waiting for him during their college days. Renuka also falls in love with Ravi who was a friend of her brother Krishna. Years later, Sameer accidentally falls in love with Shalini and they get engaged. During their college days, both Renuka and Sameer met and fell in love with each other. They both fell in love with each other but can't express their feelings to each other because they live apart. Renuka was one among them who came to India from London for her studies while Sameer was busy with his engineering in India. Kadhal Desam is the story of love between two people from different cast, culture and country who can't be together due to certain circumstances.
